Immigration Clarification

This country has always welcomed immigrants - and it still does. An immigrant is someone from a foreign land that goes through the process of proper applications and testing to become a citizen of the United States. It takes a lot of work and effort to become legal if you were not born in this country, but it is wll worth it. As a matter of fact, if you were born here, chances are your great-great-great. . . parents immigrated here.

When you sneak here and don't go through the proper channels, you are an illegal alien. NOT an immigrant. The key word being illegal. The children of these illegal aliens are automatically citizens and they will be a generation unto themselves if we are not careful.

This amnesty bill is atrocious and will ultimately encourage foreigners to come here illegally. Why even have an immigration program? How about all the people that learned english, passed the exam and left their families on the wings of hope? How devastating for them, let alone citizens like you and me?

It is costing the government millions and millions of dollars to house, provide health care and feed these aliens. How about a one time fee for deportation? Then the government relieves itself of paying for this person and their families for years to come. Once one has been deported they would be banned from applying for immigration status for 10 years.

I don't have all the answers - but I know something has to be done.

The Real Problem with the "War on Terror"

Deception. That is the biggest problem with the War. Deception from the very beginning. WMDs, connection to Osama bin Laden (still free to roam, probably lives in Miami), and they are going to attack the U.S. at any moment. Then there are no WMDs, there is no way bin Laden would have had anything to do them, and their most powerful weapon travelled 96 miles. So, with no navy, the Iraqis would have had to park a vessel in the Chesapeake Bay to cause any damage. One could argue that they could board commercial airplanes and attack us, but none of those guys were Iraqis, were they?

GWB has argued for years that he was a bad man, a dictator of the worst kind. Well, if that's our goal, to bring democracy to these nations ruled by dictators, we have a long road ahead of us. Here's the list:

List One: the most repressive nations and territories-
Burma- Chechnya, a disputed territory controlled by Russia- Cuba- Libya- North Korea- Somalia- Sudan- Tibet, a disputed territory controlled by China- Turkmenistan- Uzbekistan
List Two: all other nations and territories judged not free-
Algeria- Angola- Azerbaijan- Belarus- Bhutan- Brunei- Cambodia- Cameroon- Chad- China- Congo (Brazzaville)- Congo (Kinshasa)- Cote d'Ivoire- Egypt- Equatorial Guinea - Eritrea- Guinea- Iran- Israeli-occupied disputed territories- Kashmir, the portion of the disputed territory controlled by Pakistan- Kazakhstan- Kosovo, a disputed territory controlled by Serbia- Laos- Maldives- Oman- Pakistan- Qatar- Russia- Rwanda- Saudi Arabia - Swaziland- Syria- Tajikistan- Thailand- Togo- Transnistria, a disputed territory controlled by Moldova- Tunisia- United Arab Emirates- Vietnam - Western Sahara, a disputed territory controlled by Morocco- Zimbabwe

That's a lot of people that need our help. We better get started.

Yesterday, in a speech to Coast Guard graduates, GWB said that Iraq is the control center for all Al-qaeda. All of the rest of the world says it is Pakistan. After 6 years of absolute deception and lies, I don't believe the President of the most powerful country in the world. And his intelligence (As soon as he says intelligence sources, I roll my eyes. He manipulated them to go to War when he actually was backed by the country. Let alone what he will do when he is desperate for support.) stated that bin Laden was masterminding another attack on American soil. No dates when this 'intelligence' was gathered. Another FEAR tactic for a man that has really screwed up and needs support from anywhere he can get it.

So, the real problem with this war is: "We don't believe you, Mr. President. We just don't believe you." He has lost all credibility through deceptions, missteps and hiring then backing really raunchy people (Wolfowitz, Gonzales, Libby . . .) when they flail.

A couple more points, then I will quit ranting.

Why can't we put ourselves in others' shoes? A lot of people in this world think GWB is very dangerous. (Including myself. He's a moron with a lot of power and that's dangerous.) So, they decide to attack our country and get rid of this awful leader to 'save us.' Much like we did to the Iraqis. Do you think we would all just rush out and thank them? Or would we get out our hunting rifles and start defending ourselves? I would. I would make my little house a fortress and shoot. Much like the Iraqis are doing. GWB assumed this country wanted to be saved by us. They didn't. Not like this anyway.

Lastly, in his Gettysburg address, Abe Lincoln stated, "For the people, by the people." Not "thanks for your input citizens, but I am going to do it this way." Over 65% of this country wants our soldiers out of there. That means, a real leader finds a way to do it. He is not listening to the people. Could it be that we have a rogue dictator, right here at home? He is doing his own agenda regardless of what the people want. He is creating a dictatorship right here in U.S.A. by igoring the people. Seems to me we have a republic right here that could use some ethical and humble leadership - a regime change if you will.

GWB is wrong and has been wrong for 7 years now. And, Mr. President, we don't believe you anymore.

HOORAY IT'S GAY!!!

Bill Reddish Show

Bill Reddish defended his position this morning on his show. You probably already know the mayor has banned city workers from being on the show. He stated that twice previously her minions were not saying what the mayor wanted them to say and she busted in on the show and insisted on being on the air. Reddish stated she may have some control issues. That's an understatement. Reddish is also going to talk more about it tomorrow. What is the mayor trying to hide?

Also, did anyone go to her meeting yesterday at noon at the GOB? The one Joe reported in his blog yesterday? I didn't get to go and was hoping Joe would have an entry about it but he hasn't yet. I would like to know what she said. (I haven't read the newspaper yet . . . could be in there.)

More Limbaugh Logic

Ahhhh, Rush Limbaugh tried to think today. Oops. He said, "They are the Party of Fatalism and Fear." And he wasn't talking about fake reasons to start a war. Or WMDs. Or an Iraqi-Osama connection. He was actually talking about democrats and global warming. "They are saying this because their policy is based on making you afraid and then you have to agree with them out of fear. It has been their policy for a long time."

Really? Hhmmmm. I thought that was Georgie and his cronies' shtick. My father is a staunch right wing Republican and he swears if Georgie hadn't attacked Iraq, American women would already be wearing Burkas. Sounds like somebody put the fear into him. And not about global warming, either. I seem to remember a major fear policy by Georgie, Dicky & Rummy. Oh but wait, that was true. Or it could have been. It really could have been. Well, we knew it wasn't but went forward with a bloody war.

The White House also backed Gonzales today by saying, "He has done nothing wrong and is still the man for the job." And we are winning in Iraq. And democrats are the party of fear. And Jerry Falwell was a swell human. The conservative load of $#@* has had its day now the American people are finally seeing right through it. Finally.

GAY Stuff

Well, not really stuff. Just one thing. This weekend Red Letter Day will be playing at the Frogg Pond on Saturday from 4-7 pm. They're folksy, rocky, jazzy and very talented. Come out and see and good show if you are at the beach for the holiday.

Conservative Pundits

I didn't get to listen to Laura, Neal or Rush today. But I know that yesterday none of them talked about the debacle that is Alberto Gonzales. Not even a mention. I just don't understand. Oh, and they failed to mention that Georgie's other appointee, Paul Wolfowitz who is resigning in disgrace.

They did manage to blame democrats for gas prices being so high. Rush said that if Exxon spread all their profits among each and every American, we could only buy a few gallons of gas anyway. Uhhhmmm, gas is high, but not quite that high Rush. Exxon profited 39.5 billion dollars last year. There are 301 million (or so, and counting) people in the U.S. That comes to approximately $130,000 per person. That's 37, 000 gallons of gas at $3.50 a gallon. So obviously, according to Rush, the problem is not that gas companies are making too much money as democrats suggested. They are barely getting by for crying out loud.

Did I mention the only oil company used in the above analysis was Exxon? Think if we added the others. But we are not being gouged. No way. The problem (again according to Rush) is that we are not harvesting our own oil, obviously. If we harvested our own oil, by destroying wildlife and land, then Exxon wouldn't have to make 39.5 billion dollars in profits or their profits could double but gas would stay the same or . . . Don't you get the Rush 'logic' here?

Record gas prices equals record profits, and Georgie has all the neo-cons convinced it's the democrats' fault. Unbelievable.
